Greetings Stephen,
Yep it'll still work on 4.7.2009 or 4.7.2005. The only two builds that will allow you to
sign in and still have this Add-In capability.
The Alerts tab is doing the same here on Windows Messenger 5.1. Looks like a bug on their
side. I'll try to make some noise about it, but unfortunately since the Windows Messenger
disbanded, it's nearly impossible to try and get any action on stuff like this.

Hello.
I am a Windows XP SP2 user, and I downgraded from WM 4.7.3 back to 4.7.2009
(which supported the Addins feature). Would it still be possible to install
the MSN Add-in even though they've been discontinued?
Another thing (not about add-ins) is that the Microsoft Alerts tab seems to
no longer function. I receive the alerts in a popup in the corner and I can
click them to go to that alert, but I cannot view my recent alerts as a tab.
It gives me a HTTP 500 error. Is this a server-side issue, or is it due to
the age of WM that it's pointing to an old non-functioning URL?
Thanks in advance. :)
