You may have just turned it off. To turn it back on, click the Tools menu (or press Alt-T if
the menu is hidden), then Options, then Messages category and make sure 'Show emoticons' and
'Show custom emoticons' is selected.
If you have open conversation windows, you'll need to close and reopen them to see the
change.

I have msn 8.0 beta, and everything was fine but suddenly, I'm unable to see
the icons that I'd send or I recived on a conversacion. I can see the icon
when I choose it but in te converasation I just see something like.... :-)
........
This probably is not a big problem but I would really like to enjoy of this
again.
