Unfortunately this is by design as Windows Messenger no longer has specific support for
Hotmail. You do have two options -- you can switch your default mail handler to Hotmail by
clicking the Tools menu in Internet Explorer, then Internet Options, then Programs tab and
change the e-mail program to Hotmail (or Windows Live Mail). Probably you don't want to do
that, so the other option is to just use Windows Live Messenger instead:
