Greetings Wilbert,
You could try completely removing your contact cache store.
To do so, shut down Messenger, then clicking Start, then
Run, type:
%appdata%\Microsoft
Right-click the MSN Messenger folder and choose Delete. Then restart Messenger and see if
the problem has been corrected.
Another possible solution for this is if you've had the debug log file on and its grown too
big. To correct, go to your My Documents\My Received Folder and if you have a MsnMsgr.txt
file, delete it and then try signing in. If this works, be sure to click the Tools menu,
then Options, Connection category, then Advanced Settings button, and uncheck the box under
'Connection Logging'.

Hello!
Recently, I started having problems with my MSN 7.5. When I click on the
shortcut, it opens and I see it appear in the taskbar. However, when trying
to sign in, it says "Signing in" and then after about 20-30 seconds it
crashes and I get a message
Messenger has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the
inconvenience.
When I click "Click here" in order to see the details it tells me
AppName: msnmsgr.exe AppVer: 7.5.324.0 ModName: msnmsgr.exe
ModVer: 7.5.324.0 Offset: 00209a68
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling MSN as well as downloading a different
version.
Also, I tried registering varioius .dll files and removing the MSN Messenger
folder. However, there is no success whatsoever.
I am running Windows XP and am connecting through a modem(dial-up). Also
when I check the connectivity, it say me: "Your gateway appear to be
offline".
Please help!!!
Any help and advise would be appreciated.
