I have lost my windows messenger icon on the system tray & via goingthrough
'all programs', when clicking on windows messenger, I am directed to 'myher
computer'. I want to uninstall or at least turn off windows messenger from
signing on when I go online. My girlfriend was chatting on my computer (I
have never chatted nor ever wanted to) & subsequently when I went online,
IM address was signing in & I was being inundated with all her messages. She
tried to turn off her IM address from signing in when I go online & leftme
with no icon & no means to get into the menu structure of windowsmessenger,
except I am still getting all her messages. I just want to stop beingannoyed
by her IM address signing in & all the pop-ups appearing on my computerwhen
her friends are wanting to message with her.
If you're getting messages, you are probably also seeing the icon in the
system tray. Right-click on it and choose Open Messenger. How you
actually stop it from signing in varies depending on the version. If it's
MSN Messenger around v.7, go tyo Tools, Options, General, and de-select
Automatically Run and Allow Automatic Sign-In. Choose Apply and OK, and
close Messenger, then right-click on the icon and choose Exit.
If it's just Windows Messenger, the relevant options are under Tools,
Options, Preferences, and you turn off the first two.
