It sounds like you're overloading your connection. Windows Live Messenger actually is far
more intensive connectivity-wise than previous versions. You may actually want to check
Linksys for a firmware update for your router as this is actually something that happens
especially on their WRT54G-class routers with constant connections (a la bittorrent).

Hi, I have an issue with MSN messenger 8 live. When I Sign In & DL with
Bittorrent at the same time after a couple of minutes My browsers stop
connecting & I'm un able to browse with page error. When I reconnect my
Router it then works well & repeats the issue.
I'm using Windows XP 64 bit updated to last patch, I browse with Firefox &
IE 64/32bit. & using a linksys router which I dont think the issue is from
because I used different ones. It only happens when I sign in to MSN 8 &
never happened with MSN 7.5
