Greetings Ian,
Messenger has never used txt files as Messenger logs -- that feature is added by Messenger
Plus. As such, you can use Messenger Plus (http://www.msgplus.net) to do your logging and
disable Messenger's message archiving (Tools menu, Options, Messages category).

I would like ot save my chat logs. But for some reason now, they save as .xml
documents. These documents take up a lot more room on my computer. They can
also become too full way too early. They used to save as .txt files to view
in notepad. Is there anyway that I can change it back to where they will save
as .txt files?
