They are stored in:
Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Microsoft\MSN
Messenger\anumber\CustomEmoticons. Where username is your Windows username and anumber is an
integer representation of the Passport e-mail address.

If she's looking to back them up, she should use this tool:

sending her. Does anyone know where these are stored and where are they
stored when you create one?
