Legally anything that it written down is copyright, even your post. There
is nothing specific that you have to do to make it copyright. Okay add the
copyright symbol if you like but it doesn't make a lot of difference.

Copyright actually swings into action when someone deliberately copies
your words and 'passes them off' as their own. Quoting someone is rather
different. So long as the quote is no more than 10 percent of the initial
material and is enclosed in quotes and the copyright owner acknowledged
then that is fine.
