Well now I can log into Messenger OK, weird. Moral of the story seems to be,
don't trust the .NET Service Status page, if it says "All systems are stable
and running" that may or may not be true, sigh...

I'm having the same problem. I'm thinking it could be a side effect
associated with last week's security updates from Microsoft and I'm trying
to investigate further...will post here if I find out something.

Don't bother reinstalling..
It's the server or something..
I think they are updating something..

Im particular my main address *I have several incase of problem*
And all of my other accounts appear to be working..

Maybe the upgrade to Windows Live is happening or something..
And im sure they could of times it better.. It being Half Term, and today
Bank Holiday!
But if you keep trying.. It should eventually work..
