Re: Video + Audio Chat Suddenly Cuts Into Static

I have had this problem, or similar problems. Between my parents and my
self, on either side of the atlantic, we have both disabled the MSN
Messenger audio codec, with it, everything was garbled, and with out, no
problems... With other contacts its been and an underpowered Webcam, or
perhaps insufficient usb bandwidth (assuming they're using the webcam
microphone), or perhaps even a driver bug. This can usually be fixed by
plugging the cam into a different socket, which forces windows to reinstall
the cam driver.
The other thing to do is to make sure that everybody has the latest version
of Messenger... I believe there was one version that was particularly bad
for cutting into static...
Hope this helps,
Robin

Hey,
I've recently set up MSN Messenger so my parents can talk to other
relatives using their webcam and microphone. However, after a few
minutes, the audio of the other party suddenly changes to static. This
is resolved by stopping and starting the video chat, but this is hardly
ideal. Is this a problem that other people are having, or otherwise
already reported? Does anyone know of a fix or any kind of issue that
could be causing this?
Any help is appreciated!
