you dont have to create an email, im guessing you already have one and you
can use that as your passport, but yes you need an email to make a passport
account and therefore sign into windows/msn messenger

Greetings,
You are not missing anything. The only names in Messenger are your
Passport e-mail address and your display name.

Windows Messenger help refers to a "sign-in name" but does not explain
how to
create one. I don't want people to need/have my email address to IM me,
but
it seems the only way to sign into Windows Messenger is via an email
address,
and no way to create a separate screen name or "sign-in name" to sign in
and
that that people would use to contact you.
This seems crazy. Is it true? I MUST be missing something...
