MSN starting Remote Assistance problems.

Hello chaps,

I've seen this problem numerous times on the internet, and I've tried
all the suggestions without success. This is my last hope!

It's basically trying to start a remote assistance session with my dad
via MSN. I've got XP pro, and my dad has got XP home. I'm using a
router so that my laptop can connect to the network as well.

Now, my dad can start a remote assistance session with me (i.e., if I
initiate it, he can then see my screen etc), but I can't do the same
for him. All it says is "Attempting to connect to..." and after a long
while it will eventually fail. I've had no luck with this, and I've
tried:

1. Ensuring that both firewalls on mine and my dad's machine allow
both Remote Assistance and port 3389 to go through.
2. Ensuring my router allows port forwarding for 3389. I've even put
it in for port triggering too.
3. I've even turned off the firewalls on both computers. This doesn't
work.

Is there anything else I can try? This is driving me berserk, as this
used to work!!!

Also, my laptop is running XP home, and I've been trying the same with
that. But even over my local network this does not work in exactly the
same way. I *once* made it work by turning both firewalls off, but
since then I've tried this again but to no avail. I've tried
everything!!! HELP!!

PS - I have a Netgear wireless router WGR614 v6, if that helps.
