Soundmax sound card


I know not a XP issue but a Win 2k
I have had the ASUS Terminator for about a month now works fine on win
XP, however as I use and prefer windows 2000 I have been having
problems with the sound.

The sould card works okay, however after starting windows the sound for
certain things stop working.

Skype I can call people bit cannot hear anything, however the person on
the other side can hear me with no problems the same goes for MSN
Messenger video call and voice call.

Also the other think i I noticed was that when you click on the volume
button on the task bar when you change it it normaly goes PING,
however this does nt happen either., this ping is a wav file but can
play the wav files and mp3's midi and so on with no problems and hear
it.

There have been no changed to my system other than i put windows 2000
back on instead of XP.

DOwnloaded the latest driver put the old ones on etc.

I have checked all the settings within 2000 and the relevant apps, with
no joy any sugestions
