No. It's not true. Application launching is faster with the prefetch though
I do delete mine every few months or so to kill items that aren't in use any
longer. It will save you some space I suppose. I can't see there being a
reason to delete it often nor to disable it. I put it on a different disk (a
whole separate HDD) and let Windows manage it. By the way, what has this got
to do with Windows Messenger? Anyhow, no, I'd not delete it.
