constant disconnects from messenger

A friend of mine, who lives east/central Canada keeps getting disconnected
.... like, every few minutes. It's most frustrating. I don't ever have the
problem.

Any thoughts. Is it a "too many" connections problem in the east. If not,
how can this be trouble-shooted. I wouldn't know where to start. He
doesn't have any other apparent connectivity issues, other than messenger.
We can't carry on a five minute chat without him being booted off. He can
resign-in immediately, but it's constant.

I'd appreciate any input. Thanks.
