Application Sharing problems with UPnP NAT Router

We are having problems establishing an "Application Sharing" session in
Windows Messenger (version 4.7.3001) with another user on the internet.
We are successful in sending messages via the "Instant Message" feature. We
have tried initiating the "Application Sharing" from both sides without
success.
*** Below is a copy of the message log ***
Doug is inviting you to start using Application Sharing. Do you want to
Accept (Alt+T) or Decline (Alt+D) the invitation?
You have accepted the invitation from Doug to start using Application
Sharing.
Doug invited you to a Application Sharing. You cannot accept the invitation
because you are already in one of the following: a conversation using voice
or video, an Application Sharing session, or a Whiteboard session.

A connection is never established. All of the applications to share remain
grayed-out.
On our end we have a Linksys BEFSX41 ver2 router with Firmware 1.50.9 (which
is the most recent upgrade). I've enabled the "UPnP" option in the router
setup. On the other end the user has a software firewall and the user
answers yes to the questions to allow access.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.
Troy
