.net messenger always signing me in

I turn my computer on and I am not signed into msn messenger but people can
still send me instant messages. I want to know how to turn off this
automatic sign in. If i start msn messenger after someone sends me an
instant message, it says signing out of .net messaging becuase i started
another msn messenger. What is this .net messenger and how is automatically
signing me in and how do I turn it off.
