Uninstall messenger, remove its folder from Program Files and then DELETE
ALL REGISTRY ENTRIES releated to messenger. If you have AdAware installed,
make sure it's not running, also disable you anti-virus. Then do a clean
install.

sorry. it's me again. i posted this message a few days ago,
but no-one replied. hopefully not because it's a hopeless
case, but because people didn't see it? anyway, if someone
could help, i'd be dead happy...

thanks in advance

HERE GOES:

while installing the new messenger version (and for some
reason, i can't install older versions either now!), error
code 1603 appears.

the event viewer tells me that Produkt: MSN Messenger 6.2
-- Fehler 1325. "(Diverses)" ist kein gültiger kurzer
Dateiname.

(i.e.) "Divers)" is not a valid short file name (i hope
that's correct translation.

also Event ID: 11325(no idea if this is of any use)
