Windows Messenger & MSN W conflict?

I recently purchased a new PC with W XP Pro installed and SP2.
I did not download MSN Messenger as I assumed it was the same as W M.
However, recently when trying to view a webcam through anothers MSN
Messenger, I only got a blank screen.
I downloaded the latest MSN Messenger but it would not install - it gave me
an error message HRESULT; 0x80070002. Error Code 1603.
MSN Help produced what was intended to be a way though this, but it did not
work. Largely, I suspect because instead of the expected ===

6. Rename the folder
x86_Microsoft.Windows.Networking.RtcDll_6595b64144ccf1df_5.2.2.1_x-ww_d6bd8b93
as
x86_Microsoft.Windows.Networking.RtcDll_6595b64144ccf1df_5.2.2.1_x-ww_d6bd8b93.old.

I found that my x86 files were 5.2.2.2

Has anyone got a way of sorting this please?
