I have updated to Messenger 6.2, I have Windows XP SP2 loaded thru
slipstreamed install CD of Windows XP Professional. I have 4 users. Also
have shared Internet connection for another PC running XP Home SP2 and is
connected to PC1 thru 10/100 Ethernet plugged into older Linskeys hub.
Office 2000 Standard is installed on the Home PC.
When I installed Office XP on the Pro PC, it automatically had the Instant
Messaging box checked, so I left it. I then installed MSN messenger 6.2 on
both PC's.
I tried importing contacts from Outlook to hotmail from the Pro PC. My
Hotmail contacts did not show up in Messenger though. I though that Hotmail
and MSN Messenger shared the contact list. When I tried adding the Hotmail
address, I just ended up with 2 contacts in Hotmail.
I am using a local ISP and POP3 for email. I have a free hotmail account to
use for Instant Messaging and hotmail.
How do I fix this. I realized that I did not setup a profile for hotmail to
assign a sign in name--so I did that.
Do I need to uncheck the Messenger option in Outlook XP? I am really
confused. How do I get the MSN Messenger contacts to agree to Hotmail
contacts?
I am using Word as HTML editor on both PC's. I am not trying to share
contacts between the 2 PC's at this time because I have not figured out how
to do it with the different versions.
Any suggestions would be welcome. I just want to get MSN Messenger and
hotmail to work properly.
