Remote Assistance uses port 3389 TCP. Messenger file transfers are different depending on
what version you're using, however more than likely (unless your particular Belkin has some
built-in Messenger support), your Belkin will need support Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) for
this to work.

However, something that you may consider for the others (and may assist Messenger too if the
router has built-in support) is to simply set your computer into the DMZ of the router.
Since you're using Windows XP SP2, the built-in Windows Firewall should automatically be
engaged, so putting yourself into the DMZ of the router shouldn't be much of a security
problem.
