Greetings Peter,

Just have him go to http://register.passport.net and register his current e-mail address as
.NET Passport or he can simply set up a Hotmail account (http://www.hotmail.com).

After this, on his (your old) PC, click Start, then Control Panel, then User Accounts, click
the current Windows XP account that he's logged in under, then click "Change my .NET
Passport", choose the "Use a Different Passport" button and then go through the wizard to set
up the Passport he just set up.

I sold off my Pentium 3, 550MHz to a friend with all the installed software, including
Windows Messenger. The problem is that my old Windows Messenger continues to attempt to sign
me on rather than allow my friend to sign on with his own Messenger ID (actually, he does not
have an ID yet, so I was going to set him up with one). The problem is that I don't know how
to do this seeming simple task, that is, set him up with his own Messenger ID, and then set
up Messenger on my old PC to sign him on, rather than attempting to sign me on. Can someone
point me to a relevant article or two on exactly how to accomplish this task?
