Greetings Steve,

A number of reasons can cause this to happen, but since you're behind some sort of corporate
network, usually it's the network at fault. Most of these corporate internet
sharing/monitoring solutions only allow connections for a certain amount of time and as such,
Messenger's server connection may be broken regularly by the corporate network.

If you're using Windows Messenger, you may want to try using MSN Messenger 6.x instead as it
provides a better way ot "staying on" but probably won't change much:
