Windows Messenger

Can someone please help!!!

I installed msm messenger 6.2 thinking it would overwrite
my windows messenger 4.7 and have since found out they
are two different programmes. Anyway I have successfully
uninstalled msm messenger 6.2 but now can not sign in to
windows messenger. On signing in using my correct e.mail
address and password I keep receiving a message that my
sign in/password is not recgonised. But I can still
access my hotmail account which also uses a net
passport! Can anyone give me any ideas on what to do -
As Im now starting to get very frustrated!
