Greetings Diana,

To fix this, close Outlook Express, then close Messenger, and then download and run the
following .reg file:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/downloads/stopmessenger_oe.reg

After this, you'll be able to close it whether or not Outlook Express is open or not.
