Greetings Jay,

I'm afraid not, the only real way you can "remove" it, is switch to viewing your Contacts by
Groups (click the Contacts menu, then Sort Contacts By, choose Groups, then go back into the
Sort Contacts By option and make sure that 'Group Mobile Contacts Together' isn't selected.

Note that this doesn't remove them, just simply adds them into the Groups (as expected).
