How did you remove it?

AFAICT there're two methods that *should* work:

i) Rundll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.remove

ii) Edit %SystemRoot%\INF\sysoc.inf as changing ",HIDE," to ",," in the
components section lets you remove those components just like any other
Windows components.

Personally I just neither allow incoming nor outgoing connections from or to
msmsgs.exe, disabled the icon on the task bar and that was that. Much easier
should I ever want or need it for any reason.
