msn no voice

I have xp pro with msn latest version works fine. My
sister has 98 with msn latest version she has tested her
ear & voice it is fine but we cannot hear each other.

She is using ntl. Also when we are trying to speak to
each other my microphone bar doesn't go up and down like
it normally does when i am speaking, yet the tools test
says all my equipment is working fine
