Java ??

I know this question has probably been asked thousands of
times but never the less I need to download java from Sun
microsystems and really do not know exactly which file I
need....Running win xp home with sp1a...although computer
properties lists service pack 1...and if that is the case
than how do I enable java ???/.........Thanks as always
