What about us that do not use a router? I used Win Messenger 4.7 with
voice for a long time. I purchased a new system and at the same time I
installed a Linksys router to network with my older system. That was
the end of voice. After reading all the posts and doing the suggestions
to no avail, I removed the router, then reformated the hard drive on my
new system, installed Windows Home XP from scratch,(loaded no other
programs), downloaded ALL updates, downloaded messenger 4.7, connected
directly to my ADSL modem and still no voice. Installed messenger 5.0,
still no voice. So what is the answer to that? Is one of the XP updates
preventing voice from working? It can't be my router as I removed it
before I reload XP Home.
