Is there any way to enable the
setting "MessageLoggingEnabled" through a Group Policy
Object?
This is what I would like to accomplish on our network:
- We have a Windows domain structure. All user files are
redirected to a folder on the server. (My Documents and My
received files), therefore all logged files are being
stored remotely and can be monitored and searched.
- We apply GPOs with different settings to enforce
policies.
- We want to be able to monitor the information exchange
through MSN without using third party tools.
- I know the setting "MessageLoggingEnabled" under
HKEY_USER\Software\Microsoft\MSNMessenger\PerPassportSettin
g\MessageLoggingEnabled is responsible for it. When it is
turned off, it is an DWORD value with zero as content.
However, when it is turned on, it becomes a binary value
with an encrypted version of the username plus the
character 0 at the end.
- I want to create a custom Policy Template that has this
option and that will checkout the box by default.
- Is there a more general Key, instead of using one key
per MSN key?
Is there any way that this can be accomplished? am I on
the right track? How can it be achieved?
