Nigel, I know how you feel. I am having the same problem and can get neither windows or msn messenger to alert me of incoming mail when I am online. I have been working on this problem for the past week or more including numerous contacts with MSN support all to no avail. I even reinstalled MSN messenger but no good. Is there anyone out there who can help us??
