What Do I Do ????

I want to download the latest version of messenger . Well before I did I wanted to dissable the other 4.7 vesion but it would not let me because it said that 4.7 is being used by other programs such as, Outlook Express , Outlook, MSN Explorer, and Internet Explorer.
 How do I dissable the earlier version of messenger to download the latest version 6.1
