6.1 they can't hear me

I have MSN Messenger 6.1 running on my XP machine as does my Son in a
differnet state. We can connect with each other and see each other. I can
hear him but he can't hear me. The tuning wizard says my audio is working. I
am behind a Linksys BEFSR41 running PnP and can see it in my machine's "My
Network Places". I've tried a couple of different articles about using this
with PnP but nothing gets it all working. Does anyone have the magic key? It
looks like a lot of people are frustrated with what should be a very simple
thing.
