Re: Prevent Downloaded Update from Installing

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Pardon me, but I have no fraggin' idea as to who you are, your reputation and
your motives. I don't just run scripts on my machine from just anybody.
Furthermore, how do I know that your site wasn't recently compromised and the
script replaced with something malicious? What if your DNS has been hijacked?

In the spirit of Buyer Beware - Downloader Beware.

Who the hell are you to telling people to not download from my site!!!!!
My site and my scripts are SAFE!
Before you open your mouth, why don't you check it out for yourself.
My site has been up for over 7 years, my scripts have been downloaded many
times and NO ONE as ever had a problem.
I am here to help people with my scripts.

Ignore the muppets who have replied so far. If you want to block ANY of
the
Microsoft update patches, you need to set your Automatic Updates to:
"Download updates for me and let me choose when to install". This is the
second item in the list.

Now when you get the prompt in the task bar that updates have been
downloaded
(normally a yellow shield in the windows taskbar on the right bottom
corner)
you click on it and select CUSTOM installs. this allows you to choose
which
updates to install and which to reject outright.

You are then asked another question whether you want to be reminded of
updates
NOT installed this time. You say NO.

That is all you have to do. This method also allows you NOT to install
that
dreaded Microsoft spyware called WGA! PLEASE DON'T DOWNLOAD ANY SOFTWARE
WHICH PAULM IS DISTRIBUTING BECAUSE IT MAY BE A SPYWARE. YOU DON'T KNOW
PAUL
OR ANYBODY HERE SO DON'T DOWNLOAD ANY RECOMMENDED SOFTWARE UNLESS THEY ARE
FROM MICROSOFT OR OTHER REPUTABLE PLACES.

Hope this helps.

My Windows Update downloaded IE8 despite the fact that I have my
Automatic
Settings set to only automatically download Critical updates.

I have not yet allowed the IE8 download to install.

How can I delete the download and remove the it so that Windows Update no
longer believes that there there is an Update ready to install?
