Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance


With "Simple File Sharing" disabled Right click the folder that's to be shared.
Click either "Sharing and Security" or "Properties" in the popup menu.
Click the Sharing tab > Permissions button.
Give "Everyone" full premission > Ok out.
Do the Same for the Security tab.

its off, it prompts me for a login, and i type in administrator and no
password and enter, i faintly remeber turning off the security option for
having non-blank passwords. Is it simple as that? And this is quite the
crude fix.

Is there any explanation?

Simple file sharing is already on by default, i've checked it too to be
sure.
