it's not unusual that the
proprietary software doesn't
function in windows.
but this isn't really a
windows issue.
instead the issue needs
to be addressed by the
makers of that device.
however, while you await
their official response
you might try a couple of
things:
first, dedicate your system
to the tasking of the web
cam only.
this will ensure you don't
have additional variables
involved that can be contributing
the dysfunctional state of the
device.
so, disable all your startups
and non microsoft services
via msconfig.
you may want to jot down
what they were as well.
next, ensure that you have
sufficient virtual memory.
my suggestion for vm is to
take it off automatic and
set a custom size instead.
when you open the virtual
memory dialog window
there will be some
recommendations for the
initial size and the max size.
then reboot and tryout
your cam ware again.
if you still have a problem,
then you have basically done
your part to nurse maid a
incompatible product.,
so it will be up to the makers
to fix the problem for you.
if they do not, then take the
thing back from where you
got and either get a refund
or get a different model by
a different manufacturer.

I've recently bought a lifecam vx-3000 webcam, I installed the software first
as per the instructions and then connected the webcam. When I click on
LifeCam, all I get is a stupid message telling me that the process has to
close down. So I uninstall the software thinking I've done something wrong, I
reinstall the software and still nothing when I click on LifeCam. Ok so I can
use the webcam via messenger and My Computer, but I want to send video emails
etc by using my webcam. I've tried downloading the latest drivers for the
vx-3000, I think it's LifeCam v2.07 or something but all that does is just
stop dead!. Now when I try to remove/install Lifecam software I'm told that I
can't 'cos it's still on the PC..but according to Add/Remove Hardware it has
gone!...HELP!
