Hello,

The user has already replied to another post that he/she has checked the
BIOS.

A failing CD-ROM drive does not mean it would not be detected in BIOS. It
could be a weak laser or lens.

That's an interesting thought! For a home user wouldn't it be more
practical to check the BIOS to see if the drive is recognised?

Hello,

Sounds like your CD-ROM has reached end of life. Try connecting
another CD-ROM drive to the laptop

Okay here it goes...My laptop (Toshiba Satellite M45 S2652) started
the unmountable drive error. I am unable to go into safe mode & for
some reason
am unable to boot from my Windows XP disk to go into RECOVERY MODE.
At first
I thought maybe it was my hard drive, so i took it out and put it
into my husbands PIII, 512MB Toshiba. I put in my XP disc and voila!
I was able to access Recovery Mode, run chkdsk /r and boom xp was
running like a charm. However, when I put my hard drive back into MY
laptop, I get the oxoooooo7b
error. I took my hard drive back out and put it in my husbands
laptop and installed recovery console on my hard drive as an option
to boot on startup.
Then I put my hard drive back into my laptop and boot into recovery
console
from it. Then I switch to my D:\ drive to try and run setup, winnt
and all to
no avail. THANKS IN ADVANCE!!
