PAMMIEPOOH
Switching the hard drive from one computer to another is likely to do more harm than good. It is one thing to place the drive in a second computer as a slave drive to read and copy files but what you are doing is not in my opinion a clever way to try to resolve your problem.
Please provide a copy of the Stop Error report.
Disable automatic restart on system failure. This should help by
allowing time to write down the STOP code properly. Right click on
the My Computer icon on the Desktop and select Properties, Advanced,
Start-Up and Recovery, System Failure and uncheck box before
Automatically Restart.Do not re-enable automatic restart on system
failure.

Hope this helps.

i double checked my bios and from what i can tell all my settings are
correct. my bios is set for my cd-rom to be read first, followed by
my hard drive. I don't have a floppy. I will try the suggestion
earlier about doing system restore on my husbands laptop. My laptop
is about 5 years old. The hard drive that's in here is the second one
that I purchased nearly 2 years ago to increase storage. I'm running
Windows
XP home SP 2. My virus scan software (Avast) is up to date and
detected nothing. I also ran my spyware program (ScanSpyware). They
are both current with their applicable updates. I haven't added any
software or hardware to it either.

Okay here it goes...My laptop (Toshiba Satellite M45 S2652) started
the unmountable drive error. I am unable to go into safe mode &
for some reason am unable to boot from my Windows XP disk to go
into RECOVERY MODE. At first I thought maybe it was my hard drive,
so i took it out and put it into my husbands PIII, 512MB Toshiba. I
put in my XP disc and voila! I was able to access Recovery Mode,
run chkdsk /r and boom xp was running like a charm. However, when I
put my hard drive back into MY laptop, I get the oxoooooo7b error.
I took my hard drive back out and put it in my husbands laptop and
installed recovery console on my hard drive as an option to boot on
startup. Then I put my hard drive back into my laptop and boot into
recovery console from it. Then I switch to my D:\ drive to try and
run setup, winnt and all to no avail. THANKS IN ADVANCE!!
