This is linked from my earlier thread made in the wrong section, so
please forgive me for that mistake.

My problem is that I have been receiving a 0x10000008E error ever since
I turned off the computer after playing Half-Life 2 the night before.
The problem only occurs after I type in the password in the login screen
which then it will restart. I took the initiative to turn off the
auto-restart and I ended up with the BSOD.
Here are my computer's technical information:
Operating System: Windows XP Service Pack 3
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 @ 1.86 GHz
RAM: 2048 MB
HDD: 250 GB (C:50 GB, E:200 GB)
Graphics: ATI Sapphire Radeon X1600 PRO
Audio: SoundMAX HD
Error codes that I encountered and recorded so far from May 30th,

Suspected Cause:
I am only theorizing this based on what I have been hearing; it seems
that it could be a graphics driver problem because I do recall updating
my driver before playing in Half-Life 2. The driver by far is supposedly
up-to-date.
Already Explored Solutions:
- Repaired boot sector with XP Installation Disk
- Rollback graphics driver
- Uninstalling Daemon Tools due to known issues with sptd.sys
- Disabling background image
- System restore [failed]
About to try:
- Uninstall ATI driver and install an earlier driver that came with the
computer.
I seriously do not believe that it could be the graphics since I've had
no problem playing Half-Life 2 after updating the driver, but that could
be just luck. I appreciate if anyone can help.
---Update---
Just as I expected that it was definitely not a graphic driver issue. I
reverted to the oldest graphic driver available in my arsenal and it
still had the BSOD. I will proceed in getting rid of the other virtual
dvd drive and see if that helps.
