Re: How do you add apps to 'New" right-click options in Windows Explorer?

Hot to add commands to the right-click "New" command.

Create a template for a file type and place it here:
C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Templates

Then add a new subkey to the extension called "ShellNew".
For example, I created one for a batch file:

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.bat\ShellNew]
"FileName"="Template1.bat"

You don't have to use a template though. Instead of the above
example, you can use the string value, "NullFile" like this
example for txt files:

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.txt\ShellNew]
"NullFile"=""

If you wish, I could make you a reg file that you'll only need to
double-click to fix your missing "New" choices. Just tell me for
what file types you need, like TXT, RTF, DOC, etc.

I have Windows XP with SP3 on my system. While in Window Explorer and in a folder, I right-click in the left-pane and when I choose 'New' I no longer have either Notepad or WordPad as options, only MS Word as text file. I've used WinXP since it's original release date, and have slip-streamed copies with the successive service packs for reinstallations since then. I also have MS Office 2003 on my system. I've been unable to find any mention of a way to add apps to the 'New' option in Explorer's Help. I run my Windows in Classic mode. Any help would be appreciated.
