Thanks Jose. My workaround solution - inspired by your earlier post - of uninstalling my VLC media player, is a good-enough one for the indefinite time being!

How do I disable the VLC plugin, please? I looked but couldn't see any
reference to plugins. (Also, while doing this, I was advised by a VLC
announcement to download its latest version. I have now done this and
uninstalled the old version, but haven't yet installed the new one.)
One other question. You say: '(most restart FF)'. I'm not sure what is
meant here. I guess that 'most' should be 'must' but what is 'FF', please?

Hee. FF = Firefox. Most = Must. Sometimes my ASR makes an error.

I don't use Seamonkey, VLC, or any of the other things you listed so I
could only research and guess and you don't need that.
