Re: .net app problem

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Sorry for my typo in last post: The other .net application got the same
problem, TOO.

Not only Paint.Net, but also the other .net apps on my system. All of them
can do anything well except the functions needing to access the network, eg.
checking update, log on a server, etc.

The other apps those do not need .net framework, say IE, Firefox, Messegner,
Avast antivirus, ... can do network things well.

Try uninstalling Paint Net and then
reinstalling.

Do I understand you correctly in that
you also have other applications that
do not work correctly?

Right after new installation of XP SP3, I did windowsupdate and installed
all
recommended software packs, service packs, hotfixes and so on, including
.net
framework 1.1, 2.0 SP2, 3.0 SP2, 3.5 SP2 and all related hotfixes.

I have a lot of .net applications and they seem working well. But
unfortunately, I found they have problem to access the network. For
example,
Paint.Net is able to run on my system very well. But if I click "check
update", an error message will pop up and tell me "undefined network
error".
The other .net application got the same problem, either.

No firewall is installed nor enabled on my system. I've used a sniffer to
inspect the packets but found no packet is sent when trigger the network
related functions of the applications . I checked the event viewer and
found
some ".NET Runtime 2.0 Error" messages but I don't know how to deal with
it.
Do I need to remove and reinstall all .net framework? Is there any
workaround? I'd like to avoid reinstallation as much as possible since
I've
spent a lot time to set up the environment.
