Hello

Which antispyware is recommended by this ng please? ATM I'm using
Windows Defender

Good.

Spybot, AdAware

These apps. lost their luster. I'd uninstall and add:
SuperAntispyware - Free
http://www.superantispyware.com/superantispywarefreevspro.html
--direct--
http://www.superantispyware.com/downloadfile.html?productid=SUPERANTISPYWAREFREE

& Malwarebytes.

Good, keep them as 'second-opinion' scanner.

I Also use Zone Alarm Free

Bad choice! I'd unininstall and re-activate the build-in program.

& AVG

Okay, I guess. The new free version of Avira's AntiVir is better IMO.

Free AE which notifies me of tracking cookies etc.

Never heard of it.

Running all the time is Spybot Tea Time

Tea Time can cause troubles big time!

& Defender.

So you should, it's a 'real-time' application.

Do I need all these?

No.

In addition consider:
CCleaner - Free
Cleans temporary internet files, cookies, history, recent urls,
application
MRUs, etc. ...(*Tune out the registry scanning/fixing option!*)

If Windows Defender is utilized go to Applications, under Utilities
uncheck "Windows Defender" (so it won't delete the history of WD).
If you wish, click 'Options' button the 'Settings' [check] 'Run CCleaner
when the computer starts'.
--or--
Setup CCleaner to Automatically Run Each Night in Vista or XP

Routinely practice Safe-Hex.

Good luck :)

Thanks for those links. I do also have CCleaner which I use from time to
time & I'll set it to run nightly & I note what you say about Defender.
I've now stopped Tea Timer.

I had a senior moment when I mentioned Free AE - I was getting confused
between AVG Free & AdAware Anniversary Edition :-)

I'll look into swapping Avira for AVG.
