I as advised elsewhere to try memtest as well.
I burned the memtest.iso onto a disk and put it in my disk drive then
restarted my computer. After a few seconds it flashed through a few
screen detailing what looked like my usb ports and similar items. It
then stopped with the following line at the bottom of the screen:
Caldera DR DOS 7.03
CopyRight (c) 1976, 1998 Caldera Inc. All Rights Reserved
[DR-DOS]A:\>
I havent seen anything that looks like the screenshots on the Memtest
website.
Did I burn the memtest wrong?
Also, after restarting my computer without the disk it had become very
slow, the mouse is jumpy and my wireless usb adapter isn't working (i
got it to recognize available networks after uninstalling and
re-installing from the product disc but when I select connect I receive
a new BSoD.
"A device driver attempting to corrupt the system has been caught. The
faulty driver currently on the kernel stack must be replaced with a
working version.
STOP: 0x000000C4 (0x00001001, 0x84AA2DDC, 0x85EAF1A0, 0x00000000)
or
STOP: 0x000000C4 (0x00001001, 0x855A4DDC, 0x84A6E6E0, 0x00000000)"
I downloaded the diagnostic tool for my HD but it required a .NET
Framework I did not have. I'll try and download it to a usb drive and
transfer it and test run the diagnostic tool.
I found a program called HD Tune and ran a benchmark test, which showed
sporadic performance on my HD. HD Tune showed no errors on my HD using
SMART and also no errors with a scan of the surface for deffects.
Should I try swapping my RAM stick? If so is it just a straight switch
of one stick for another or is there any install required?
