Thanks for trying to help me.
But in windows xp home edition there is not a security tab under the file
properties and no disable simple file sharing under the files options.I think
I saw these in vista.I took my old hard drive to another computer with vista
and I changed the ownership of the folders. This time I could "see" the files
but could not open them.A technician told me not to boot from the old hard
drive because I will lose it all.So I think I'm on a dead end.Do you know
anything else?
Again thank you very much

My system was hit by thunder and I had to change the motherboard and the
internet card along with my router...Unfortunately I didn't have the
opportunity to make a back up.So the problem now is that I cannot access
the
files and music under my documents. They were not for common use. I bought
a
new hard disk and I had to install windows xp again.I can see the files
but
cannot do anything else with them.Help?
You need to disable Simple File Sharing and take ownership of the files.
Take a look at these articles for more info:

How to take ownership of a file or folder in Windows XP

Note: If you are running Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, you
must start the computer in safe mode, and then log on with an
account that has Administrative rights to have access to the
Security tab. To start in Safe Mode, reboot your computer and
start tapping the F8 key as soon as you see anything displayed
on the screen. Keep hitting F8 until the Advanced Startup
Options menu appears. Use the up and down arrow keys on your
keyboard to select Safe Mode. Hit Enter.
Good luck
