RE: Need help removing partition created by windows xp reinstall

Will this restore the files or delete them on the incorrect partition?

Install xp cd,set pc to boot to xp cd,at xp cd menu screen press r key for
recovery console, select 1 for C: press enter key for password, type:DiskPart
In DiskPart, select the unwanted partition(s),delete, once thru, press ESC key.
At this point one might type:Fixboot Agree, type:CHKDSK C: /R Once thru,
maybe run the same on the slave hd CHKDSK D: /R or CHKDSK D: /p D: being
the slave,type:EXIT When thru..

Recently, I tried to install service pack 3. I got the no access error and
the install backed out. However, I noticed that my device manager was now
corrupted due to the install. So, I went back to system restore to try and
get back to period prior to trying to install svc pk 3. That didn't work
and my system got into a loop where it wouldn't boot at all, not even in safe
mode. Since I had the original windows xp disk, I first unplugged my 250 gb
internal slave drive so that windows would not try to install the operating
system there. I reinstalled windows xp using the original oem disk. The
original was only Svc pk 1. However, my virus protection was not compatible
with svc pk 1 and I was denied internet access. I also could not uninstall
the virus protection due to the incompatibility.

In the meantime, I hooked back up my slave drive only to find that windows
xp could not open it.

I found another version of windows xp that had svc pk 2 included. I
reinstalled windows again (again I unplugged the slave drive during the
reinstall).

Now when I try to access the slave drive, I get a semaphore timeout error.
I have purchased a restore files software to try and recover my files;
however, it appears that at some point windows xp assigned a partition to my
slave drive at the 137gb point without notifying me first or asking.

I still can't access my slave drive, I can restore files, but only up to the
137gb pont. I need to get rid of this unwanted, unasked for partition so
that I can restore my files.

I can see where the files are at in the file recover software that I
purchased, I just can't get to them

HELP!!!!!!!

Thanks, Laura
