Re: Normal or Safe Mode does not work

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

Thanks for the info but again I never did clone the drive, thought about it
and had started the software but never click the OK button but click the
cancel button then uninstall it thru the proper procedure. I might just take
the drive in to a specialist so I can get some files of the drive especially
my outlook personal folders info, sad thing is that i did not create a pst
backup since november, hopefully there's away to retrieve it.

Again, Thanks

I don't believe you understood the message. When you clone one drive to
another, the drive that the clone is being created on will be overwritten,
not the drive that is the source (the one your creating a clone of).

I did perform a chkdsk which was good and as for the cloning, it hadn't
started yet, i terminated the cloning prior of starting it, the software
had
warn me prior of starting that it would basically clone my new drive and
erase everything on it so it had asked me if i wanted to continue which i
did
not and once the software was closed then i unistalled it but i do recall
during the uninstall it told me that it would be taken some files off that
was asssociated with the software which is normal but i think that is the
cause. if only i new all the files needed and their location to boot up
in
safe mode then i should be ok. Thanks for the info

Yesterday while trying to create a cloning img with XXClone, realized
that
I
did not want this so I stop the process which it did then Uninstalled
the
software and when I rebooted the system, it went to Start Mode screen
so I
tried the normal mode and it just rebooted itself so I then tried the
Safe
mode and issue persisted, in the Safe mode it started to load the
drivers
but
at one point it stop and rebooted. So I then used my ERD cd and tried
to
restore thru it and was able to select a restore point but once I click
next,
nothing happen!! tried different dates and nothing happen. Basically
what I
need to know is what drivers do I need to at least go into Safe mode so
I
can
do a restore from that point.

Can not afford to lose my email information so I can't reinstall XP Pro

Thanks for the help

Have you shutdown and disconnected the drive you were cloning to after
you
aborted the process? If no do so, it's quite possible it's trying to
boot
to that drive which is no doubt not going to happen. Post back with the
results.
