Re: Acer Aspire 3000 keyboard and touchpad problems in Windows XP

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

I went to this 'near safe' but normal mode, eliminating all services that
could be, and all startup.

Alas, same result.

there is a method to
normalize windows to
be similar to that of
safe mode.

click on start>run>msconfig

then in the startup tab
disable all the entries
noted as enabled.

you might want to jot
down what is currently
enabled for reference.

next, go to the services
tab and enable the option
to hide all microsoft services.

then what is left, you can
disable.

again, you might want to
jot down what you disabled.

afterwards reboot the machine.

the process above is also
known as a clean boot and
it is almost like booting in
safe mode, but not exactly
the same.

if you are fortunate, then
your normal mode windows
will act similar to that of safe mode.

if so, then you know that
something previously running
was causing the issue.

so care must be taken which
items you will choose to enable
again, as there is at least one
line/item that is dysfunctional.

also, I too have an acer so
I know there are proprietary
drivers that need to be
enabled.

so, I would surmise if you have
to re-enable any of the startups
or services, they should first be
the ones for your acer.

also, double check the acer
home site for "updated" drivers,
software's and patches that may
have been released since the
cd you have was issued.

Problem with Aspire 3000 using Windows XP before and after recovery from
previously valid Ghost image AND also after use of recovery disks
originally supplied by Acer:

At welcome screen and thereafter, keystrokes processed very slowly (<1
per second) only if staying on key until recognition (leaning on key does
not eventually produce multis), touchpad motion is reflected well behind
actual motion, BUT USB mouse behaves just fine, including clicks.

All of the above does NOT occur in safe mode.

Any suggestions or solutions or additional information needed?
